As the new semester begins, the Office of Transportation and Mobility would like to share some reminders about commuting, parking and mobility options for the campus community.
Commute Concierge
- Commute Concierge services are available to the Vanderbilt University community, including instructions on riding public transit, planning group excursions and more.
Commute Calculator
- People’s commuting needs change over time. MoveVU’s commute calculator can help determine which option for getting to and parking on campus may be best for you this spring
- Use the Commute Calculator >>
Biking
- A map of bike facilities on campus, including bike racks, bike “fix-it” stations and shower facilities, is available online.
- Route guidance for bicycle commuting and free helmets are available by emailing MoveVU@vanderbilt.edu. Please indicate if you would like a small, medium, or large helmet.
- Vanderbilt has collaborated with Spin to allow e-bike sharing on campus. Please note that other rental electric bikes and scooters are not allowed within campus itself.
Public Transit
- Vanderbilt provides all full-time and part-time students, faculty, staff and postdocs with free access to WeGo local and regional buses, commuter train and paratransit services with a physical Commodore Card. This service is available for any place and time WeGo operates, not just for commuting to and from campus.
- Visit vu.edu/bus to learn more, including routes and easy destinations to and from campus or email the Commute Concierge at MoveVU@vanderbilt.edu.
Daily Parking and Sustainable Commute Incentives
- Daily parking applications are accepted on a rolling basis and processed weekly.
- Earn $1.00 per weekday for logging walking, biking, carpooling, vanpooling or taking WeGo bus or train commutes in the MoveVU Commute Hub or Luum app.
- Vehicle ownership is NOT REQUIRED to enroll in daily parking and earn sustainable commute incentives.
- Daily parking enrollees only pay for days parked on campus.
Hourly Paid Parking
- Hourly paid parking options are available throughout campus through ParkMobile or around campus on Metro Nashville streets. Metro Nashville recently installed new pay stations and pay-by-phone options at street parking locations around campus.
Parking Enforcement
- Be sure to park nose-in (do not back into or pull through parking spaces). Your license plate is part of your virtual parking permit and must be visible to parking enforcement officers. Failure to park nose-in may result in a citation. Review parking FAQs here.
- Electric vehicle charging parking spaces are reserved for two-hour charging only. You must move your car to a different parking space after the two hours expire or risk citation.
- If you are enrolled in the daily parking program or have an annual parking permit, you must update your vehicle’s registration information when you receive a new vehicle or license plate number.
