Vanderbilt postponed yesterday’s planned AlertVU test in the wake of the tragic shooting at UNC Chapel Hill on Monday.
Vanderbilt University Public Safety will now conduct a test of the AlertVU emergency notification system on Thursday, Sept. 7, at 2:30 p.m.
AlertVU rapidly sends notification messages in the event of an imminent threat or danger to the Vanderbilt community.
All Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center students, faculty and staff are automatically enrolled in the system using their university and medical center email addresses.
Employees can register other contact points, such as cell or home phone numbers or personal email accounts to receive AlertVU messages*. Update your information through Oracle; instructions are available on the AlertVU website.
Additionally, all Vanderbilt employees should review and confirm their emergency contact information. In the event of an emergency or accident, the university will use the information provided in Oracle. For instructions on how to update that information, please use the Help Center in Oracle.
Medical center employees will be directed to MyWorkday. Instructions on how to update your contact information in MyWorkday are on the AlertVU website.
For more information, email Jessamyn Davis.
*Users who opt to receive alerts by text message may be subject to charges from their service providers.
