Tutor Nashville, Vanderbilt’s partnership with Metro Nashville Public Schools’ high-impact tutoring program, is seeking volunteers to join the more than 150 Vanderbilt students, faculty and staff who are already part of the “Accelerating Scholars” tutoring program. Volunteers are matched one-on-one with students to provide support in literacy and math to first through ninth grade students.
The program’s research-based model includes 30-minute sessions three times per week or, new this year, 45-minute sessions twice a week. Tutoring can be either virtual or in person. Also new this year, tutors can choose to pair up with a partner, with each partner going to the school once per week to lead a tutoring session.
Applications are now being accepted; for those interested in becoming a tutor, please fill out this interest form using your Vanderbilt email address. Tutor-student matches are made in mid-September. To learn more, visit the Accelerating Scholars website.
