In collaboration with Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Belmont-Hillsboro Neighbors and the Hillsboro-West End Neighborhood Association, Vanderbilt University held a meet and greet on Saturday, July 8, for all candidates running for a countywide seat in the Aug. 3 election. More than 300 community members attended the event to speak with candidates for mayor, vice-mayor and Metro Council at-large.
“This was my favorite election event, maybe ever, because it gave people a real opportunity to observe and interact with lots of candidates and lots of neighbors,” said Jeffrey Sheehan, a Nashville resident.
Vanderbilt University is committed to facilitating voter engagement for all Davidson County residents and has sponsored five civic engagement opportunities leading up to the election: the Phoenix Club of Nashville and Nashville Banner mayoral forum, Nashville Business Journal mayoral forum, Tennessee Voices for Victims mayoral forum, Moving Forward mayoral forum and Vanderbilt’s Countywide Candidate Meet and Greet.
Early voting runs from July 14 to July 29, and Election Day is Aug. 3. Voter registration for the runoff elections will end Aug. 15.
