Well-being Wednesday: Student Care Network offers sexual wellness resources

Sexual wellness involves making informed decisions representing your values about sexual relationships while respecting and honoring the choices of others. Vanderbilt offers several resources to empower you to make healthy sexual choices, respond to your personal safety and needs, and offer support to those affected by intimate partner violence.

Student Health Center sexual and reproductive health services

Sexual and reproductive health services offered at the Student Health Center include health exams, family planning, STD testing, Pap smears, birth control management, emergency contraception, counseling for pregnant students and sexual assault evaluation and treatment.

Reproductive health and parenting resource coordinator

The reproductive health and parenting resource coordinator serves as the first point of contact for any individual seeking information, support, referrals and education around all stages of reproductive health, which includes pregnancy and parenting. Office hours are on the Health and Wellness webpage.

Project Safe Center for Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Response

The mission of Project Safe is to provide information, support, referrals and education about sexual and intimate partner violence as well as consent, healthy relationships and healthy sexuality. Project Safe serves as a central resource for those affected by sexual and intimate partner violence. Their 24/7 crisis hotline is 615-322-7233.

Margaret Cuninggim Women’s Center

The Margaret Cuninggim Women’s Center is an affirming space for women—and for all members of the Vanderbilt community—that actively resists sexism and all forms of oppression. The Women’s Center provides resources and educational programming, including Vandy Sex Ed. The center offers free condoms, personal lubricant, dental dams, menstrual products and pregnancy tests. These are all in the fishbowl in the lobby, as well as in the first-floor restroom.
