The Office for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Taskforce on Belonging invites all faculty, staff and students to participate in a series of focus groups to assist in the development of an instrument for measuring a sense of belonging among Vanderbilt University community members.
Specifically, the purpose of the focus groups is to evaluate the survey and definition EDI has designed to describe and understand “belonging” at Vanderbilt University.
The goals of the focus groups include:
- gathering feedback on the Vanderbilt definition of belonging; and
- checking for clarity of understanding regarding statements designed to test for belonging.
Six focus groups are currently planned, two each for faculty, staff and students. Each session will last between 30 and 60 minutes. All responses will be voluntary and private, and all data will be de-identified before analysis.
