This is the first in a series of communications to advise departmental research administrators about upcoming deadlines related to the soft launch of the new Vanderbilt Electronic Research Administration (VERA) system.
As previously announced, Research Finance will not accept requests for new, or modifications to existing, awards and projects after 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 17. All requests received by this deadline will be created in Oracle the week of Sept. 20 and converted into VERA as part of the soft launch. Requests for new awards and project numbers or modifications to existing awards and projects will not be available again until Friday, Oct. 1, when award setup is functional in VERA.
Here are some tips for planning for this deadline:
- If you receive a new award prior to Sept. 17, please submit your request to Research Finance immediately.
- If you need to modify an existing award or project, please submit your request to Research Finance immediately.
- If you are expecting a federal grant from a sponsor that allows pre-award costs, consider establishing an interim award and project number prior to the Sept. 17 deadline.
