Tents return to campus lawns for outdoor gatherings

The Facilities Department is installing nine tents throughout campus for general use by the Vanderbilt community this fall.

The tents will feature tables and chairs and are designed for individuals and groups to gather, share meals, conduct classes, socialize and more. The tents are open to all students, faculty, postdocs and staff, and scheduling for their use is not required at this time.

“As we did last academic year, Vanderbilt community members can gather safely outdoors beneath the tents to enjoy one another’s company, the milder fall weather and our beautiful campus,” said Mike Perez, associate vice chancellor and chief facilities officer.

The tents can be found at the following locations:

  • Rand Hall near the northeast wall (2 tents)
  • Curry Field
  • Between Benson and Garland halls
  • Bishops Common
  • Between the Bryan Building and the Vaughn Home
  • Magnolia Lawn (2 tents)
  • Peabody College upper quad
