BY THE BOARD OF TRUST OF
VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY
in appreciation of
VANDERBILT FACULTY
WHEREAS, Vanderbilt faculty members have made significant contributions during an unprecedented year within the university’s history;
WHEREAS, they have shown immense resilience during this uncertain time—from innovation in adaptive teaching, to embracing new technology, to providing essential in-person instruction in the classroom;
WHEREAS, they have served as lifechanging mentors for their students at a time when such guidance is uniquely crucial;
WHEREAS, they have advanced their scholarship, research, creativity and community engagement in addition to their teaching duties;
WHEREAS, they have continued to collaborate and advance discourse around a myriad of topics, pursuing ideas and discoveries that improve lives and instill hope in our society;
WHEREAS, they have propelled scientific progress at a critical moment for public health, by sharing expertise, developing treatments and testing vaccines for COVID-19;
WHEREAS, they have come together in the spirit of One Vanderbilt to advance the university’s mission and serve as a model of unified purpose and sacrifice that is unique in higher education.
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Trust expresses its deepest and most sincere gratitude to each and every member of Vanderbilt’s faculty for their extraordinary efforts, adaptation and commitment during a year that has defined and advanced our ability to persevere.
