Faculty and staff invited to join inaugural LGBTQI+ Affinity Group

Faculty and staff who identify as LGBTQI+ and their allies are invited to join a virtual launch party and brainstorming session of the new employee LGBTQI+ Affinity Group. The event will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 26, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. via Zoom.

Participants must register prior to the event to receive the zoom link.

The group, developed in collaboration with the Office for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, the Office of LGBTQI Life, the Division of Administration and the Wellbeing and Diversity Working Group in Human Resources, is among the first in a series of employee resource groups set to launch this semester.

The virtual launch party and brainstorming session will be led by:

  • Linzie Treadway, project manager, Office for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
  • Chris Purcell, director, Office of LGBTQI Life
  • Scotty Glasgow, senior special events coordinator, Human Resources

The launch session is an opportunity for Vanderbilt community members to ask questions and make suggestions about how the group can best serve the community and expand on programming for the group. The LGBTQI+ Affinity Group will host regular meetings aimed at providing resources for LGBTQI+ employees and allies, including social networking, meetups, guest speakers, support navigating workplace interactions and more.

The LGBTQI+ Affinity Group follows the creation of the Association of Vanderbilt Black Faculty and Staff, the inaugural employee resource group, which launched last month and currently has more than 150 members across campus.
