NPEF, Peabody to host virtual conversation on dismantling inequities among Nashville youth June 30

The Nashville Public Education Foundation and Vanderbilt Peabody College will host a free webinar, “A City Where All Youth Thrive: A Conversation about Dismantling the Inequities of the Nashville Youth Experience,” on Tuesday, June 30, from 4 to 5 p.m. CT.

Maury Nation, associate professor of human and organizational development, will discuss his research addressing the problems of urban education and how Nashville’s housing and criminal justice systems are predictors for Metro Nashville Public Schools student outcomes.

The presentation will be followed by a panel featuring Judge Sheila Calloway, Oasis Center President and CEO Tom Ward, MNPS Student Support Services Director Dr. Shree Walker and Communities In Schools site coordinator and former MNPS student LaTrya Gordon discussing how Nation’s research plays out in Metro Nashville neighborhoods and schools.

The event will be conducted via Zoom and is open to the public.
