Vanderbilt Peabody College of education and human development has extended its application deadline for graduating Vanderbilt seniors who are interested in pursuing a master’s degree in areas like public policy, higher education, entrepreneurship, organizational leadership, community development, teaching, or counseling.
The new deadline is May 30.
“For some students, the current economic climate makes this a good time consider adding a professional degree to their Vanderbilt undergraduate degree,” said Catherine Gavin Loss, associate dean for academic affairs and professional education and associate professor of the practice at Peabody. “Our goal is to expand academic and professional opportunities during an uncertain time by helping graduating students gain an edge in the market.”
This spring, U.S. News & World Report ranked Peabody No. 4 nationally among graduate schools of education. Its programs in educational administration and special education are ranked first in the country. Its education policy program was ranked third. The college is also known for its outstanding career placement and success. In 2019, 95% of professional degree graduates were employed or in graduate school within four months of graduation.
In addition to the extended deadline, Peabody is also waiving the requirement for standardized test scores, typically the GRE, for students with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
There is no cost to apply. All students who apply also will be automatically considered for merit scholarships. Fifteen master’s programs are included in areas ranging across education, organizational leadership, higher education administration, education policy and community development.
