The GlobalVU Initiative will launch a workshop series this spring showcasing Vanderbilt’s research to scholars, intellectuals and policymakers from around the globe. The series was developed with GlobalVU’s mission in mind: to improve the university’s international research and engagement and bring internationally renowned figures to engage with the Vanderbilt campus community.
The workshops, which are organized and run by faculty, take different approaches to advancing Vanderbilt research on the global stage. The first workshop on Feb. 10–11 places the groundbreaking research of Blair School of Music professors Douglas Shadle and Joy Calico within a rich global context. The second on Feb. 21 builds on interdisciplinary scholarship at Vanderbilt with a geographic focus—the Sahel region of Africa. The third workshop on April 24–25 promotes to a global audience innovative work being conducted at Peabody College on teacher professional development.
