Nominations will be accepted through Nov. 20 for the 2019 Commodore Award, Vanderbilt’s highest staff honor. The annual award recognizes staff members who have made significant contributions to Vanderbilt University’s pursuit of excellence in education, research and community service each year.
The 2019 Commodore Award ceremony, scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2020, will honor two Commodore Award recipients; one for exempt staff, and one for non-exempt staff. Nominations should describe how the nominee achieved one or more of the following:
- Overall performance and accomplishments that regularly and consistently far exceed performance expectations, reflecting a high level of service, dedication, conscientiousness, compassion and applied skill.
- Handling of a high-impact or critical situation that had important consequences for a department, Vanderbilt University or the community.
- Developing or improving processes that resulted in significant productivity and/or cost savings improvements.
To nominate someone for the Commodore Award, faculty or staff should reach out to their division or department lead. Nominations for the Commodore Award will be accepted by the division or department lead between Oct. 20 and Nov 20. Regular full-time staff members holding positions below the director or department lead level with at least five years of consecutive Vanderbilt University service may be nominated for the award. Previous recipients may not win a second time.
