Life Phase Series: ‘Raised-Bed Gardening with an Expert’ Feb. 26

Laura Barker, a horticultural specialist with Vanderbilt Plant Operations’ Grounds Maintenance team, will discuss raised-bed gardening from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center teaching kitchen.

Learn how to start vegetable and flower gardens and receive information about seeds, transplanting and growing recommendations. Make this gardening season your best ever using tips from an expert.

Come dressed comfortably and casually; you will have a chance to plant cool-weather vegetable and flowering plants.

Barker has been on staff at Vanderbilt for almost nine years. She completed a plant and soil science degree from the University of Illinois and has been working in the horticulture industry for more than 17 years. Her interests include reading, cooking and vertical gardening.

This Life Phase Series session is sponsored by the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center and the Vanderbilt University Plant Operations Grounds Department. It is open to the Vanderbilt community.
