Limited-edition T-shirt available at VU bookstore
Commodore Nation is standing with our Nashville Predators as they continue their historic run for hockey’s biggest prize—the Stanley Cup—by declaring June 2 as “United in Gold Day.”
Faculty and staff are encouraged to wear their favorite Predators gear—jerseys, shirts, hats—on Friday to show Vanderbilt’s support for the team. (Fake beards optional. No catfish, please.)
To commemorate the historic event, Vanderbilt has printed limited-edition “We Stand with You” T-shirts showing the Nashville skyline, the Star V and the #UnitedInGold hashtag. The shirts are on sale for $16.98 at the Barnes & Noble at Vanderbilt bookstore.
“I’d love to see our campus turn into a sea of gold on Friday to support the Predators,” said Steve Ertel, vice chancellor for communications. “The Predators’ championship run has provided a great jolt of energy for all of us and has showcased our amazing hometown to hockey fans around the world.”
The Predators return to Bridgestone Arena for Game 3 on Saturday, their first final-round game on home ice. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. Central time. The Pittsburgh Penguins lead the series 2–0. The city of Nashville and the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp. are hosting a downtown watch party on Lower Broadway with a large screen at Fifth and Broadway; the site opens at 3 p.m. Saturday.
