For decades, Vanderbilt and its employees have been giving back to the Middle Tennessee community. Supporting four local federations—Community Health Charities of Tennessee, Community Shares, the Nashville Public Education Foundation, and United Way of Metropolitan Nashville, as well as contributing directly to the hundreds of agencies administered by them—is an important part of our culture.
Vanderbilt does not coordinate an annual giving campaign, but the Vanderbilt Gives: Building a Community with Hope website offers a convenient way to link to local federations. When you visit their websites, you have the option to make a one-time payment or to make contributions throughout the year.
You also may wish to donate your time through volunteering. Over the past year, the University Staff Advisory Council (USAC) sponsored several volunteer opportunities with local charities, including its annual Share the Love food drive benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank that resulted in the donation of 675 pounds of food, or about 560 meals, for local families in need. Visit the Hands On Nashville website to learn more about volunteer opportunities.
Visit Vanderbilt Gives and see how you can join your fellow Vanderbilt employees in making Middle Tennessee an even better place to live.
