Media Advisory: Vanderbilt to host Meet the Candidates picnic July 16

The Vanderbilt community can learn more about the candidates running for Nashville mayor, vice mayor and Metro Council at a July 16 picnic inside the university’s Recreation and Wellness Center.

All of the candidates appearing on the Aug. 6 ballot are invited to attend the event, meet and greet attendees, stand on a soapbox to address the audience and hand out literature. The seven mayoral candidates and many others on the ballot have confirmed that they plan to attend.

Vanderbilt’s faculty, students, staff and neighbors are invited to enjoy a picnic lunch and learn more about those running for office. Those planning to attend are requested to RSVP.

WHEN: Thursday, July 16, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

WHERE: Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center, located at 25th Ave. S. and Children’s Way (media planning to attend are requested to call Ann Marie Deer Owens at 615-343-3208 for parking information)
