The Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center invites the Vanderbilt and Nashville communities to discover what moves them during the VRWC’s first open house weekend, May 8-10.
VRWC facilities will be open to all Vanderbilt staff, faculty and members of the Nashville community for free May 8-10. Several special activities are planned for the weekend in addition to the usual group fitness classes, rock climbing wall, indoor basketball courts, racquetball courts, strength and aerobic conditioning rooms, indoor pool and more.
The VRWC will operate on summer hours throughout the weekend:
- Friday, 5 a.m.–9 p.m.
- Saturday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
- Sunday, noon–5 p.m.

Saturday, May 9, 9 a.m.
Spring Into Fun Run 5K
Walk, run or stroller your way to the finish line. All ages and fitness levels are welcome at this family fun-filled event. Register online.
Saturday, May 9, 9-10 a.m.
Vanderbilt Fit-A-Thon
Each participant will complete body squats, crunches, line jumps and step-overs (or modified versions of these) and a one-mile run or walk. Challenge yourself by setting personal goals.
Saturday, May 9, 3-6 p.m.
Swim School Soiree
Food will be served, followed by two hours of swim time. Please RSVP by Monday, May 4, to ensure your spot.
VRWC staff will be on hand all weekend to answer questions about the state-of-the-art facility, the programs VRWC offers, and membership information.
