The Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center presents “Raised-Bed Gardening with the Experts” featuring Bill Randles and Laura Barker of Vanderbilt Plant Operations’ grounds maintenance team on Thursday, March 12. The talk is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. at the VRWC Demonstration Kitchen.
Learn how to start vegetable and flower gardens, and get information on seeds, transplanting and growing recommendations. Make this gardening season the best ever using tips from these experts.
Randles graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in ornamental horticulture. He is the sports turf manager at Vanderbilt and has been at the university for 29 years. His interests include historic gardening, seed savers and outdoor photography.
Barker has been at Vanderbilt for almost four years. She completed a plant and soil science degree from the University of Illinois and has been working in the horticulture industry for more than 12 years. Her interests include reading, cooking and vertical gardening.
This event, sponsored by the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center, is open to the Vanderbilt community.
