LaManda Watson, an administrative assistant in the Department of Pediatric Allergy, Immunology and Pulmonary Medicine, turned a fear into a healthy lifestyle change.
Watson has always been afraid of elevators. She decided to take the stairs to be healthy and lose weight. Through challenging herself to take the stairs daily, she lost 60 pounds over a six-month period.
Watson felt so good that she started doing stair climb challenges. She has transformed from never being physically active to doing 5Ks, mud races and other fun events.
Health Plus encourages you to take the stairs as a way to improve your health. Remember to record the minutes you spend stair climbing in the Start! Physical Activity Tracker.
