Minutes from the University Staff Advisory Council’s Jan. 14 meeting are now available online on the USAC website. (Meeting minutes are published approximately one week after the council convenes.)

Chief Human Resources Officer and Associate Vice Chancellor Traci Nordberg was the guest speaker for January. Nordberg discussed how Human Resources strives to attract and support a competitive Vanderbilt workforce; the structure of the HR Services team and the expectations she has for its members; and some goals and advances HR is working toward for the future. She also provided some early insights into the results of the Staff Community Survey, the focus groups for which were still underway at the time of the meeting.

The staff council also heard an update on its Partnering With Parents fundraising initiative. USAC collected nearly $350 and eight gift cards for the program, which provides financial assistance to qualifying Vanderbilt families during the holidays. USAC’s contribution in part helped 30 Vanderbilt employees and their families in late 2013.
