The Vanderbilt community collectively logged 2,094,773,632 steps in the 2013 Start! Challenge, exceeding the goal of 2 billion steps for 2013. That’s enough steps to circle the earth 31 times!
Health Plus’ 2014 Start! Physical Activity Challenge is now underway. Participants are challenged to log 1 million steps by Dec. 31, 2014, to help reach the collective goal of 2 billion steps for the year.
Those who reach 1 million steps by Dec. 31 will receive a 1 Million Step Club prize. New this year, participants will be able to vote for their favorite prize.
The Start! tracker is easy to use. Figure out what activities work best for you and then commit to logging them on a regular basis—daily, weekly or monthly. You can enter steps or active minutes in the tracker. Activities such as taking the stairs or yard work are part of an active lifestyle and can be converted into steps using the tracker to help you reach your goal.
