Peabody’s John Braxton named editor of top higher education journal

Vanderbilt Peabody College’s John M. Braxton has been appointed editor of the Journal of College Student Development. The journal is one of the leaders in the field of higher education research.

Braxton’s five-year term as the journal’s editor will begin August 1, 2008.

The Journal of College Student Development specializes in articles focused on college student growth and development and other topics related to the college student experience. It has a circulation of 10,000 and is published by the American College Personnel Association (ACPA) College Student Educators International.

Braxton is a professor of education in the Peabody Department of Leadership, Policy and OrganizationsHigher Education Leadership and Policy Program. His research interests center on the college student experience, the sociology of the academic profession and academic course-level processes. He is the author of over 80 articles in referred journals, books and book chapters.
