CEO leads Accelerator program at Owen Graduate School of Management; Michael Burcham brings innovative new projects to “business boot camp”

Adjunct professor of health care innovation and entrepreneurship Michael Burcham is using his expertise as a teacher and a current CEO to lead a team of fellow professors, students and volunteers for this year’s Accelerator-Vanderbilt Summer Business Institute.

The Accelerator program is an action-packed immersion into all areas of business, from marketing to finance to real estate. In this four-week business boot camp, a select group of college undergraduates of all majors – and those who’ve just graduated – will get a unique jump start into the business world.

Students will interact with leaders from Fortune 500 and other successful companies along with Owen faculty to develop the skills they need to land meaningful internships, jobs or prepare them for business graduate school.

“I’m excited to take the Accelerator program to a new level,” said Burcham. “The amount of hands-on knowledge, experience and interaction with business leaders that Accelerator students will get will definitely set them apart from other young professionals.”

Along with teaching at Owen, Burcham is president of ParadigmHealth, a specialty care and disease management firm. So far, ParadigmHealth has managed more than 150,000 patients nationwide. Burcham also provides strategic consulting to healthcare firms and venture funds and is a frequent national speaker on healthcare strategy and entrepreneurial thinking.

Burcham received his undergraduate degree in physical therapy from the University of Mississippi Medical Center and his master’s in business administration at Belmont University. He completed his doctoral degree in health administration from the Medical University of South Carolina.

The Accelerator-Vanderbilt Summer Business Institute runs from May 26-June 24. For more information on Accelerator, visit http://accelerator.vanderbilt.edu.
