Vanderbilt University selected as “New Ivy” by national college guide

Kaplan/Newsweek, publisher of the “How to Get into College” guide, has selected Vanderbilt University as one of the “New Ivies” for the 2007 edition of the guide.

The “New Ivies” list was created this year to recognize the growing reputation and heightened selectiveness that academically outstanding schools have achieved in light of growing popularity among top students. The schools that made the list were selected based on admissions statistics as well as interviews with administrators, students, faculty and alumni.

Kaplan, a leading educational services company, has partnered with Newsweek for the past several years to compile a guide for prospective college students and families that provides insight into the application process, current admissions and school trends and key features of campus life.

The 2007 edition of the How to Get into College guide will be available on newsstands Aug. 21 and can also be ordered on Kaplan’s website at www.kaptest.com/store/ or by calling 1-800-KAP-ITEM. Visit Newsweek’s website to read the full article.
