Impact of location on culture, economics and sexuality topic of March 13 lecture

NASHVILLE, Tenn.—The role that physical location and urban design play in the social, economic, sexual, artistic and religious development of cities is the topic of a lecture by urban planning expert Edward Soja at Wyatt Center Rotunda on the Vanderbilt Peabody campus, Monday, March 13, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

The lecture is free and open to the public. Video of the lecture will be available on VUCast, Vanderbilt’s news network, at http://www.vanderbilt.edu/news.

Soja is a distinguished professor of urban planning at University of California, Los Angeles. His research focuses on urban restructuring in Los Angeles and the critical study of cities and regions.

Peabody College Instructional Improvement Grant and the University Lecture Committee are sponsoring the lecture. A reception will follow.
