Susan Gray School is an inclusive early childhood education program serving young children with and without disabilities both on site and in the community. As a part of Peabody College and the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center, the mission of Susan Gray School is to provide high-quality services to children, families and the community; to help train university students who plan to be teachers, health care providers, therapists and researchers; to facilitate research; and to demonstrate high-quality early childhood education and special education practices.

The Cinco de Mayo fundraiser is the only event that solely benefits Susan Gray School. Money raised at this year’s event will fund the Emma Harr Therapy Services Fund, which brings a speech therapist to the school to provide consistent services to students. The fund was started in 2003 with proceeds from last year’s Cinco de Mayo event. Emma Harr is a Susan Gray School graduate who has Down syndrome. Emma’s aunt co-founded the Cinco de Mayo fundraiser four years ago. In its first couple of years, the event helped fund a fully accessible playground for the school.
