Vanderbilt students put interest in fashion to good use, "Fashion for Cause" raises funds for Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Fashion seems to permeate popular culture these
days-be it the trend-setting frocks worn by the characters on the
popular HBO series Sex and the City, or the many magazine pages devoted
to the red carpet fashion of the recent Academy Awards. To an extent,
the Vanderbilt campus is no different. The question of "What to wear?"
is an important one among some segments of the student population. To
attest, Vanderbilt’s fashion trends have been featured in both Women’s
Wear Daily and Seventeen magazines in recent years.

A new Vanderbilt student group wants to put its passion for fashion
to good use for the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center. The group, Fashion
for a Cause, has joined the center’s "Campaign to Imagine a World
Without Cancer" and will raise money during an upcoming runway fashion
show.

The event takes place Thursday, March 18, at 8:30 p.m. at the
Vanderbilt Stadium Club. General admission tickets are $15 each, and
VIP tickets-which garner preferred seating, a gift bag and an
invitation to an 8 p.m. reception-are $20 each and may be purchased at
the Sarratt Student Center box office. Or, group tickets may be
purchased at a discount-a table of 10 general admission tickets is
$140, or a VIP table of 10 tickets is $180.

Designer labels to be featured in the runway show include Marc by
Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren Black Label, Tommy Hilfiger, Betsey Johnson,
Etro and Small Clothing. A silent auction, featuring goods ranging from
gift certificates and merchandise from local businesses to a pair of
roundtrip Southwest airline tickets, will also be conducted during the
course of the evening.
