A new “self-serve” studio will allow Vanderbilt faculty, students and staff to produce high-quality, Web-ready videos for educational use.
The Vanderbilt Institute for Digital Learning will launch its new VIDL Studio at Warren College with a daylong open house event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15.
The studio’s self-serve aspect is perhaps its most attractive feature, according to Jeff Shoup, VIDL production manager.
“We want to support a standard of high-quality video production on campus while making the process easy,” Shoup said.
Once trained, studio members will be able to walk in with presentation slides and walk out with a finished video. The studio can be used to produce videos of presentations with or without slides in front of a custom background, or with a narrated screen capture. It also can be used to record small group discussions of two to three people or to live-stream video straight to the Web.
Anyone interested in learning more about the studio is invited to attend the open house on Jan. 15. The studio is located in The Kissam Center at Warren College. Guests will be able to tour the studio, subscribe to the studio announcements email list, and sign up for training.
