Summer in the City: Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos hosts Vanderbilt events in New York

Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos hosted alumni, parents, and incoming first-year Vanderbilt students at two events in New York City this summer.

The first was held July 19 to thank graduates of the last decade (G.O.L.D.) who made a gift of any amount to their alma mater last year. With more than 2,000 such alumni living in the New York City area alone, Zeppos spent the evening with a group of about 95 of these young donors at a reception at the rooftop lounge of the Gansevoort Park Avenue NYC Hotel.

The next evening Zeppos welcomed more than 300 new Vanderbilt students and their families to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel on Columbus Circle for one of the 52 Summer Send-Off Parties held this summer in cities across the U.S., as well as in London and Tokyo. For nearly 50 years Vanderbilt has hosted these events, offering students a warm welcome to their new school and giving alumni and parents the latest updates about the university.
