Launch Pad: Vanderbilt’s internationally acclaimed student rocket team has propelled many alumni into the science of spaceflight
Feb. 19, 2019—During the past 11 years, NASA has awarded the Vanderbilt rocket team eight payload design awards and five national championships. The team has won a total of 30 national and international awards and 16 regional awards. In addition, the Vanderbilt Aerospace Design Lab has launched an impressive number of graduates into roles at companies such as SpaceX, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Raytheon, Rolls Royce, NASA and Northrop.
Apr. 20, 2016—The Vanderbilt student rocket team collected two key awards in NASA’s Student Launch Challenge following a near flawless flight April 16 at Bragg Farms in Toney, Alabama.
Apr. 16, 2015—Vanderbilt's Aerospace Club continued its winning ways at this year's NASA Student Launch Competition held April 11 near Huntsville, Alabama.
Apr. 22, 2013—For the fourth year in a row, the Best Payload Design award went to the Vanderbilt Aerospace Club in the 12th annual NASA University Student Launch Initiative Sunday, April 21, in a field at Bragg Farms in Toney, Ala. This is the sixth year the club has entered the national rocketry competition.
