Medical Scientist Training Program
May. 20, 2019—Students from Vanderbilt’s Medical Scientist Training Program recently hosted on campus 160 fifth- and sixth-graders from LEAD Academy and Dickson County Schools to introduce them to physician-scientist careers through a series of interactive stations focused on science and medicine.

May. 11, 2016—College of Arts and Science Dean Lauren Benton has announced that Assistant Professor of Medical Education and Administration Michelle M. Grundy will become director of the Health Professions Advisory Office July 1. The office provides guidance to undergraduate students interested in attending health professions graduate schools.
Mar. 17, 2016—An international research team led by scientists from Vanderbilt University Medical Center has identified a genetic variant that protects people with HIV from developing active tuberculosis. The variant is near the gene encoding the infection-fighting cytokine IL-12.
Dec. 10, 2015—Terence Dermody, M.D., director of the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) and Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, is leaving to become chair of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, physician-in-chief at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and scientific director of the Rangos Research Center.
