Maintenance issue at Stevenson Center Math Building cancels classes
Nov. 13, 2013—A small fire in an air handler at the Stevenson Center’s Mathematics Building has cancelled math classes for the remainder of today, Nov. 13. Vanderbilt Plant Operations is on site to handle this issue with the building’s ventilation system. There are no injuries, but the incident has resulted in smoke and odor throughout the building....

Emeritus mathematics professor dies
May. 30, 2013—Charles S. Kahane, professor of mathematics, emeritus, died May 23 as the result of injuries he sustained in a single-vehicle car crash along Interstate 65 in Hardin County, Ky. His wife, Claire R. Kahane, also was killed in the crash.
