The Transportation and Mobility Office has launched the MoveVU Commute Hub as a one-stop commuter information resource for the Vanderbilt community. The Commute Hub, which includes a new app and website that tracks users’ commuting behavior, allows Vanderbilt staff, faculty and students to better understand their commute options beyond driving alone. Andrea George, director of Vanderbilt’s Sustainability and Environmental Management Office, has been appointed director of Environmental Health and Safety for the university. In this expanded role, she will oversee environmental, health and safety management services for university research and continue to oversee campus sustainability efforts, which remain a top priority for the university. August Washington has been appointed senior associate vice chancellor for public safety and special initiatives. He will oversee all aspects of Vanderbilt University Public Safety while working directly with Vice Chancellor Eric Kopstain on Division of Administration initiatives focusing on equity, diversity and inclusion as well as workforce development. Washington also will direct efforts to recruit the university’s next chief of police. Read More

Vanderbilt University has entered into a pioneering agreement with the Tennessee Valley Authority and Nashville Electric Service to procure off-site large-scale renewable energy to help mitigate the campus’ greenhouse gas emissions. The 20-year agreement will support Vanderbilt’s goal to power its campus entirely through renewable energy and become carbon neutral by the year 2050. Read More

Stephanie Roth has been appointed interim associate vice chancellor for Title IX and equal employment opportunity, Vice Chancellor for Administration Eric Kopstain announced today. Roth also will serve as the university’s Title IX coordinator. The Office of Title IX and Student Discrimination and the Office of Equal Employment Opportunity both will report directly to Roth. Vanderbilt University greenhouse gas emissions have dropped 7 percent per square foot compared to FY17-18, and 18.5 percent compared to calendar year 2016.
