Dec. 18, 2020—Chris Purcell, director of Vanderbilt’s Office of LGBTQI Life since 2013, will leave the position Dec. 31 to become assistant dean of students at Chatham University in Pittsburgh. Rob Nelson, assistant director of LGBTQI Life, will serve as the interim director while a national search is conducted to fill the role, William H. Robinson, vice provost for academic advancement and executive director of the Provost’s Office for Inclusive Excellence, has announced.
Nov. 7, 2019—Vanderbilt marked LGBTQI History Month in October with a series of events honoring lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex narratives and history, and by engaging community members in meaningful reflection, programming and education.
Apr. 26, 2019—Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos announced today the second series of portraits honoring five Vanderbilt trailblazers. Zeppos has commissioned paintings of Dorothy Wingfield Phillips, K.C. Potter, David Williams II, Kate Lupton and Muhammad Yunus.
Oct. 17, 2018—The K.C. Potter Center, home of the Office of LGBTQI Life, will mark its 10th anniversary Oct. 24 with a celebration open to the entire Vanderbilt community.
Mar. 12, 2018—Beginning today, a new module will provide all students the option to specify their chosen pronouns through Your Enrollment Services, the university's online student services and academic information portal.
Apr. 7, 2016—The second of two forums discussing gender awareness and inclusion at Vanderbilt sponsored by the Faculty Senate and Vanderbilt Student Government will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, in Moore College, Room A117. All faculty, students and staff are invited to attend.
Aug. 21, 2013—Adale Sholock is the new director of the Margaret Cuninggim Women’s Center, while Chris Purcell joins Vanderbilt as director of the Office of LGBTQI Life.
