Vanderbilt University School of Medicine moves to eighth in NIH research funding
Apr. 13, 2017—Vanderbilt University School of Medicine (VUSM) now ranks No. 8 in the nation among U.S. medical schools in total grant support provided through the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The new ranking raises VUSM’s standing two spots from the No. 10 position it held last year.

Inaugural Discovery Science Emerging Scholars Lecture is March 16
Mar. 10, 2017—Rene Raphemot, who earned his Ph.D. at Vanderbilt in 2014 and is now a National Institutes of Health Postdoctoral Fellow at Duke University, will give the inaugural Discovery Science Emerging Scholars Lecture beginning at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 16, in Preston Research Building, Room 206.

Casagrande recalled as neuroscience pillar, supportive mentor
Jan. 24, 2017—Vivien Casagrande, Ph.D., a neuroscientist and professor at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine (VUSM) noted for her many contributions to the visual sciences, died peacefully at her home on Saturday, Jan. 21. She was 74.

Moses elected to National Academy of Inventors
Dec. 16, 2016—Harold (Hal) Moses, M.D., Ingram Professor of Cancer Research and director emeritus of Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC), has been named a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI). Moses, professor and interim chair of Cancer Biology, is among 175 academic leaders named to the 2016 class of NAI Fellows.
