Bill Lee, Nashville Mayor David Briley, and Vice Chancellor for University Affairs and Athletics and Athletics Director Malcolm Turner joined hundreds of Commodore fans on Thursday, June 27, at Vanderbilt’s Multipurpose Facility to celebrate the baseball team’s College World Series championship win.
Jun. 27, 2019—Commodore fans are invited to meet the Vanderbilt baseball team at 12:15 p.m. today as they arrive on campus following their NCAA Championship victory in Omaha. A community celebration will follow at 4:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Facility of the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center.
Jun. 25, 2019—Freshman pitcher Kumar Rocker struck out 11 and drew only three hits in six and one-third innings, and Vanderbilt got to Michigan's shaky bullpen, in a 4-1 win in Game 2 of the College World Series finals on Tuesday night. The Commodores forced a winner-take-all Game 3 set to begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha.
Jun. 24, 2019—With the Vanderbilt baseball team advancing to the College World Series finals, Vanderbilt Athletics is hosting watch parties at Hawkins Field for each championship game. All events will be free to the public, and free t-shirts and food will be given to the first 500 fans. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
Jun. 22, 2019—The Commodores staged a late rally to drop Louisville, 3-2, at the College World Series on Friday night, clinching a spot in the championship in Omaha. Vanderbilt will face off against Michigan in a best-of-three series for the NCAA title beginning Monday at 6 p.m.
Jun. 19, 2019—Vanderbilt senior Stephen Scott crushed two home runs and right-handed freshman pitcher Kumar Rocker was elusive as the Commodores advanced with a 6-3 win against Mississippi State at TD Ameritrade Park on Wednesday, moving to within one win of the College World Series finals.
Jun. 18, 2019—Due to inclement weather in Omaha on Tuesday, Vanderbilt's College World Series matchup against Mississippi State has been postponed to Wednesday at 1:07 p.m. from TD Ameritrade Park. The game can be seen on ESPN and heard on WNSR 560 AM/95.9 FM and VUCommodores.com.
