Vanderbilt hosted the 11th annual Blue Ribbon Teacher Awards in collaboration with the Nashville Public Education Foundation on Oct. 30. Twenty-five Metro Nashville Public Schools educators—including several Peabody College alumni—were recognized for excellence in student success, opportunity, instruction and leadership. The Jean and Alexander Heard Libraries have partnered with Amazon Web Services to launch the Vanderbilt Cloud Innovation Lab for Libraries and Applied Digital Preservation, powered by AWS. International Education Week is an annual celebration of international education and cultural exchange. Created in 2000 through a memorandum issued by President Bill Clinton, IEW recognizes the importance of global exchange—whether it is encouraging students in the U.S. to study abroad or welcoming international students and scholars on U.S. campuses. The room buzzed with energy at Operation Stand Down Tennessee as city leaders and university researchers gathered just a few blocks from Vanderbilt’s campus to tackle some of Nashville’s most pressing civic challenges.
