During the spring and summer of 2025, 70 professors from eight schools and colleges led Immersion Vanderbilt cohorts funded by the Provost's Faculty Immersion Grant, mentoring a total of 494 students as they participated in experiential learning opportunities. Faculty recipients identified cohorts of two or more students and advised them in completing immersive experiences and culminating projects for Immersion Vanderbilt.  Read More

The life, music, writings and visual art of jazz multi-instrumentalist and composer Yusef A. Lateef will be celebrated Sept. 12–13, when Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music hosts the Yusef Lateef Symposium. The two-day conference will include panel discussions, viewings of the Yusef A. James Hayes, Rekha Nagarajan and James Costanzo are the winners of the 2025 Cell Imaging Shared Resource Life Is Beautiful Image Contest. They worked with Jenny Schafer, CISR managing director and research associate professor of cell and developmental biology, Oleg Kovtun, research assistant professor of chemistry, and CISR senior research specialists Kari Seedle and Tegy Vadakkan to create these images as part of their individual research projects. From July 24 to 26, veterans from all over the country—some with coaching backgrounds and experience, others looking to embark upon a new trajectory as a coach—gathered at the Nashville Marriott at Vanderbilt to channel their military leadership into coaching skills. Goodpasture Professor of Pathology and director of the Vanderbilt Institute for Infection, Immunology and Inflammation, is uncovering how pathogens compete with healthy microbes for essential nutrients.
