School of Nursing celebrates accomplishment during August pinning ceremonies
Aug. 9, 2017—The Vanderbilt University School of Nursing recognized more than 350 students for the completion of their programs with pinning ceremonies held at Langford Auditorium Aug. 6. Pinning is a tradition unique to nursing that signifies entry into the profession.
Nursing’s Maxwell honored with National Hartford Center Award
Jul. 31, 2017—The National Hartford Center of Gerontological Nursing Excellence has named Cathy Maxwell, assistant professor of nursing, its 2017 Innovation Award recipient. The award recognizes and celebrates innovative programs and projects that highlight excellence in gerontological nursing.
School of Nursing receives $1.2M to support students planning faculty careers
Jul. 19, 2017—Vanderbilt University School of Nursing has received a $1.2 million grant to support doctor of nursing practice students who plan to become nursing faculty. The grant is part of the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration’s Nurse Faculty Loan Program.

Alumni of Appalachian Student Health Coalition to hold panel discussion May 19
May. 17, 2017—Alumni who helped start the paradigm-changing Appalachian Student Health Coalition will present a panel discussion from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, May 19, in the Heard Library Community Room. The coalition was founded by Vanderbilt medical, law, nursing and undergraduate students in 1970 to reach out to medically underserved communities in upper East Tennessee, Eastern Kentucky and Southwest Virginia.
