Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., a global media company that publishes more than 100 peer-reviewed academic journals, today announced a three-year read-and-publish agreement with Vanderbilt University’s Jean and Alexander Heard Libraries. Effective from 2025 through 2027, the open access agreement is the first of its kind that Mary Ann Liebert, Inc. has signed with a North American institution and will enable Vanderbilt-affiliated authors to maximize the discoverability, readership and citations for their research without incurring article processing charges. Vanderbilt Law School has received a $10 million commitment from Sara J. Finley, JD’85, to advance Vanderbilt Law School’s leadership in the study of how law, regulation and policy impact equality, equity and opportunity for women. The gift will be used to establish a chair and to endow a program for research, education and advocacy relating to equal rights, equal opportunity and nondiscrimination. Read More

Jens Meiler, Distinguished Research Professor of Chemistry, was named the principal investigator for the project, in cooperation with 14 investigators across eight institutions. The team will work together to use advanced technology, including computational modeling, AI-driven predictions and structural biology, to develop a groundbreaking vaccine against all alphaviruses that offers long-lasting protection. Third-party AI add-ons integrated with Zoom and Microsoft Teams, such as Otter.ai, Read.ai, Rev Meeting Hub and other meeting summarization apps, will be disabled across the Vanderbilt University network. Since the first cohort was enrolled 20 years ago, 190 students have participated in the program, 157 master’s degrees have been awarded, 137 students have bridged to a Ph.D. program, and 70 students have earned a Ph.D. The program has an 88 percent Ph.D. completion rate, more than twice the national average of 43 percent.
