Feb. 23, 2017—Jeff Balser, M.D., Ph.D., President and CEO of Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) and dean of the School of Medicine, has appointed a 14-member committee to conduct a national search for the new chair of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R).
Feb. 9, 2017—The phrase “working twice as hard for half as much” is one that sadly rings true for many patients who have had significant stays in an intensive care unit (ICU). Surviving a lengthy critical care experience can result in depression, weakness, fatigue and other cognitive and physical deficiencies.
Jan. 5, 2017—Russell Rothman, M.D., professor of Medicine, Pediatrics and Health Policy, Vice President for Population Health Research, and director of the Vanderbilt Center for Health Services Research, has been named president-elect of the American Academy on Communication in Healthcare (AACH). He will serve as president beginning in January 2018.
Nov. 29, 2016—Scott McCarver, Associate Operating Office for Vanderbilt University Adult Hospital and Clinics, has been named Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the Vanderbilt University Adult Hospital.
Oct. 27, 2016—Sten Vermund, M.D., Ph.D., assistant vice president for Global Health and a member of the Vanderbilt University faculty since 2005, has been named dean of the Yale School of Public Health. He will begin this new role at Yale on Feb. 1, 2017.
Oct. 13, 2016—Rizwan Hamid, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University, has been named chief of the Division of Pediatric Genetics and Genomic Medicine, effective Jan. 1, 2017.
Oct. 6, 2016—Robert Dittus, M.D., MPH, Executive Vice President, Public Health and Health Care for Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), has been named to the National Advisory Council of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).
