Action required: Update your VandySafe notification preferences

Vanderbilt is updating VandySafe notification settings to support campus-specific emergency notifications.

VandySafe users can now select the campuses for which they would like to get AlertVU push notifications. Please review and update your preferences in the VandySafe app by Sept. 15.

Beginning Sept. 16, AlertVU push notifications delivered through VandySafe will be based on users’ campus preferences. Users who do not update their preferences will not get push notifications for AlertVU emergency messages.

What is changing?

As Vanderbilt adds more campuses, AlertVU push notifications delivered through VandySafe will become campus-specific. A screenshot of the toggling system within the VandySafe app.

Users can select the campus location or locations for which they want to get notifications:

  • Nashville
  • New York City
  • Both campuses

Why do I need to take action?

Updating your preferences will help ensure that the AlertVU push notifications you get through VandySafe are relevant to the campus or campuses you choose.

Beginning Sept. 16, notifications will be delivered according to users’ campus selections. If you do not update your preferences, you will not get AlertVU push notifications through the VandySafe app.

How do I update my preferences?

  1. Open the VandySafe app.
  2. Log in using your Vanderbilt credentials.
  3. Navigate to About / Preferences.
  4. Select your campus notification preferences.
  5. Save your changes.

The process takes less than a minute.

When do I need to update my preferences?

Please update your preferences by Sept. 15, 2026.

The campus-specific notification settings will take effect Sept. 16.
