This year, Vanderbilt celebrates the 20th annual Vanderbilt Postdoctoral Association Symposium and joins institutions across the country in commemorating 150 years of the U.S. postdoctoral position. The annual event recognizes the impact of postdoctoral scholars on research and discovery while looking ahead to the next generation of scientific innovation.
This one-day symposium celebrates the breadth of postdoctoral scholarship at Vanderbilt, creating opportunities for scholars from all disciplines to share their work, learn from colleagues across fields, and explore new perspectives and collaborations.
Postdoctoral scholars from all schools and disciplines are encouraged to attend and present. Whether you are working in the humanities, social sciences, education, engineering, medicine or the natural sciences, the symposium offers opportunities to connect with colleagues across Vanderbilt.
This year’s keynote speaker is Tara Schwetz, senior director of scientific partnerships at Danaher Corp., former acting principal deputy director of the National Institutes of Health, and a former Vanderbilt postdoctoral fellow. Drawing on experience spanning academia, federal research leadership and industry, Schwetz will share insights on the impact and evolving role of postdoctoral scholars.
Symposium highlights include:
- Poster and lightning talk presentations showcasing research, scholarship and innovative approaches from postdoctoral fellows across a wide range of disciplines
- Keynote address during lunch from Tara Schwetz, former NIH leader, senior director of scientific partnerships at Danaher Corp., and former Vanderbilt postdoctoral fellow
- Campus resource fair designed to inform attendees about valuable resources and services available at Vanderbilt
- Networking opportunities and an awards ceremony to recognize the outstanding research and scholarship presented throughout the day
Call for Faculty Judges
We invite faculty members from all disciplines to participate as judges for the poster presentations. Faculty expertise and insights are crucial in helping to recognize and award outstanding research. Abstract Submission
Postdocs interested in presenting research through a poster or lightning talk are encouraged to submit their abstracts via the registration form by Friday, Sept. 18. Please note that registration will close on Friday, Oct. 16. Options for late-breaking posters will be available until that date; however, abstracts submitted late will not be published in the program. They will only be eligible for the People’s Choice Award.
