The western end of Garland Avenue will close from Monday, June 22, through Monday, Nov. 9, as crews install new thermal, storm, sanitary, electrical and telecommunications utilities.
The closure is part of ongoing infrastructure improvements and will affect vehicle traffic, pedestrian routes and nearby parking areas.

As part of the changes, Lot 18, adjacent to Olin Avenue, will reopen June 22 to provide alternative parking access. At the same time, Lot 16, which is south of the Studio Arts building, will close for utility work.
Signs and traffic control staff will be deployed in the area to guide motorists and pedestrians. Temporary pedestrian pathways will be marked and fenced off from work zones to maintain safety and accessibility.
Transit operations will also be adjusted. Bus drivers will be routed to Highland Avenue to access Stevenson Center Lane and the Vanderbilt University Medical Center roundabout near Eskind.
Drivers and pedestrians are encouraged to plan ahead, follow the signs and allow extra time when traveling through the area.
