Mark your calendar: AI Day in Practice
AI Day in Practice is coming on Sept. 16 at the Central Library. It will showcase how the Vanderbilt community is putting AI to work in studies, research and daily operations.
AI in Action at Vanderbilt
Students are combining tools to tackle complex projects. For a recent Undergraduate Research Fair poster, one student worked with their librarian to use NotebookLM, Google Scholar’s PDF reader and ChatGPT for literature review research, then turned to ChatGPT again to brainstorm visual designs that brought the poster to life.
Faculty are reimagining how students learn. At the School of Nursing, Associate Professor Angel Anthamatten built a GenAI virtual patient that lets nurse practitioner students practice realistic conversations on opioid overdose prevention and naloxone education. The simulation gives students a safe space to build clinical competencies that aren’t guaranteed in every clinical placement. Student feedback has been strong, and Anthamatten is already developing additional simulations.
Staff are streamlining their everyday work using Amplify. Teams in Finance are putting Amplify to work across email drafting, supplier categorization, Excel automation, SharePoint updates and even team personality mapping.
