How does Vanderbilt University’s presence make a difference in communities across the state? An updated report highlights the university’s wide-reaching economic and cultural impact across Tennessee.
Vanderbilt University’s Division of Government and Community Relations, in partnership with the Office of Data and Strategic Analytics, has released the FY 2024 District Impact Report—an interactive dashboard that illustrates the university’s contributions to each of Tennessee’s nine congressional districts, 99 state House districts and 33 state Senate districts.
Data-driven insights
The report provides district-level data on employment, financial aid, community engagement, alumni presence and more, and it underscores Vanderbilt’s impact on communities across the state.
From providing financial aid to Tennessee students to collaborating with local organizations on research and community initiatives, Vanderbilt’s influence extends far beyond its Nashville campus.
The report, which is updated every two years, highlights the significant relationship between Vanderbilt and Tennessee. While the data is not exhaustive, the dashboard aims to demonstrate how the university’s programs and collaborations make a difference in each district.
An interactive look at statewide impact
The interactive tool allows users to explore how Vanderbilt engages with their district through the university’s various organizations and departments. For example, users can see the number of students from their area receiving financial aid, the presence of Vanderbilt alumni and educational opportunities for K-12 students.
Engaging with policymakers and community stakeholders is a long-standing priority for Vanderbilt, and it reflects the university’s dedication to expanding opportunity and making a meaningful difference across Tennessee.
“Vanderbilt’s partnerships across Tennessee are a vital part of our mission to serve the public good,” said Nathan Green, vice chancellor for government and community relations. “This report helps illustrate the many ways the university’s students, faculty and staff are contributing to the strength and growth of communities throughout the state.”
