The Business of VU program, now in its ninth cohort, is accepting applications for fall 2025. The program, sponsored by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Finance, offers the Vanderbilt community an educational opportunity to learn about the business operations of the university and the higher education landscape.

The program launched in 2017 and consists of interactive sessions covering topics such as VU governance, global impacts on higher education, economics, fundraising and innovation. Participants are required to complete readings and engage in discussions during nine two-hour sessions. Sessions are held on campus every other Thursday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m., late August to early December.

The program cohort is limited to 35 participants to ensure an immersive and engaging experience. Participants will be chosen from a diverse set of campus perspectives and a range of schools and units to ensure a broad representation across campus. Applications are considered based on level of interest, background of experience and commitment to the Vanderbilt University mission to build a cohort representing schools and units across campus. Applications are open to students, faculty and staff from March 17 through April 30.
