Update 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9
For the safety and well-being of the Vanderbilt community , Chancellor Diermeier has declared an administrative leave day, and all in-person, on-campus classes scheduled for Friday, Jan. 10, have been canceled.
Following are updates about campus operations:
- If you are a student in an online program, please look for your dean or program director’s announcement. If you are a student in a clinical or internship placement, please follow your dean or program director’s guidance.
- Staff who have critical on-site job functions should make plans, in collaboration with their supervisor, to report to work if they are safely able to do so. Staff who do not have critical on-site job assignments need not report to campus. In all cases, if staff have questions about their work location or expectations, they should contact their supervisor. (Staff covered by a collective bargaining agreement are subject to established departmental policies regarding attendance.)
- The Acorn School and Susan Gray School will be closed.
- Facilities staff will work to ensure that major campus pathways are walkable. Please be cautious as you navigate campus and the surrounding area.
- Student Affairs will keep students informed of any changes to student services operations.
The university plans to return to regular campus operations, including classes, on Monday, Jan. 13. Any changes to plans for Monday will be communicated by 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12. Updates will be shared with the campus community in text, email and phone messages and will be posted to the Vanderbilt homepage and the university’s Facebook, X and Instagram accounts. Updates also will be shared on the MyVU news website.
Update 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8
University leaders and Vanderbilt University Emergency Management are monitoring reports of possible winter weather impacts on Friday, Jan. 10. A decision about university operations for Friday will be communicated by 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9. If the university remains open, all supervisors are asked to be flexible for those staff who may wish to take paid time off (PTO) on Friday or can perform their duties remotely.
